Conch Key

Yes, I know that was a doozie of a gap between that minimal Key West post and my next vacation update. Lot's has been happening and I can't wait to tell you! But for now, I've got tons of Keys pictures. This will take a few posts.

So today I'll start with scenery.

The Ray clan rented our beloved Keys house that the boy's probably consider their second home. We were delighted to hear that the folks renting the upstairs unit had lost their granddaughter and were canceling their whole trip. "The whole place to ourselves." the Ray's delighted. Then to all of our dismay, they found their missing granddaughter and resumed travel to Florida, crashing the party by sitting quietly on their balcony and looking down at us hell-raisers.

The Union clan rented a house just a few docks over, around a bend and were delighted to find that it held a constant refreshing breeze. It was just as fast to kayak to our house as it was to drive there and often the Rays arrived by sea. Here is Alston making his way over to our house.

While we rotated cooking and dining at either house, most nights of dancing and partying ended on our spacious, breezy back porch. Our neighbors were a hispanic family of about 14 people who also spent their evenings on the porch. They were so quiet and well-mannered and would look over at us sometimes and smile. We were loud and obnoxious, blasting 70's funk music and dancing and cackling into the wee hours of the night. Gosh it was a good time.
