Dock Time

I've been spending a lot of time out on the dock lately (in case you hadn't noticed.) It's been so nice out there and as of today, I will have hand inspected every board on that dock and re-nailed the ones that needed re-nailing. My arms are tired!!

I've been reading this book out there.  Its very amusing and reminds me much of growing up with a sassy, domineering sister.  It's written somewhat in a way that reminds me of how Carolyn tells stories.  Perhaps you'd enjoy it.

Today is a busy day around here and Mom and Dad's friends the Honbarriers, are coming over tonight with their son and his girlfriend.  They are in town for a wedding and are staying out at the beach house.  Mom has been cleaning up while Dad is off running errands.  I had to take poor Annabelle to the vet today.  She cried the whole way there and was the only one causing a scene in the crowded waiting room.

I'll be sure to take some pictures of tonight's festivities. Also, Lukas sent me this link. You two will enjoy it.

Sunday Funday

Today was HOT!! Ellen came home with Paul yesterday evening and we resolved to spend today out on the water. Buddy was tickled silly to be frolicking in and out of the water with all of his family members.

Buddy has really taken to jet-skiing and often refuses to get off when we're done.  Dad has to toss him into the water to get him to go back to the dock.  We took him riding today and he barked with glee the whole time.

Upon whipping out the camera, we rediscovered once again that ole stinkin' Ellen looks perfect in every picture.  See below shot.

Hmph!! I took lots of photos of Ellen and Paul, making sure to make them laugh, for Ellen will not accept any pictures of Paul with a "fake" smile.

Ellen and I went picture crazy.

And Mom and I cut up a bit.

Dad mostly tended to his jet skis while we all goofed around on the dock.  Buddy continued to chase birds for the entire 3 hours we were out there.  He remained very focused.

After while, we went inside, as Dad started to cook our dinner.  We are all now pooped and slumped over in our chairs.  The sun just really wears you out!

Oh, Let's See...

I have NO news. I'm bored. I spend all semester waiting for summer and look at me! Slumped over, doing nothing! It's actually kind of nice. Ha!  We've all just been killing time over here. Dad keeps busy and now has 3ish new projects that he's working on. Mom and I goof off most days though she has her daily tasks to attend to. Meanwhile I've been neglecting my apartment, preferring the company of these two goons over none at all. I now spend most evenings taking pictures in the backyard.

The hydrangeas in your old yard have come back in full force and just look lovely. Mom goes on and on about how nice they are and how they remind her of Broughton Road. Dad has stated that he "hates those scraggly purple blue bushes" and is tired of seeing them all over the place. Mom is debating buying some and planting them front and center in the yard, despite Dad's ill feeling towards them.

Last night us 3 and Carolyn and Dave all went to see the new Pirates movie. Dad and Dave behaved like small children, talking loudly, laughing wildly, and causing people to turn around in their seats to stare. And this was all before the previews started.  Mom and Carolyn pretended not to know those two inbetween shushing them and laughing at them.  Those two were not amused by the constant "shh!!" they were receiving from their wives and therefore retaliated.  Dave began in that redneck voice, "Shut your blowhole old lady!!" while Dad smiled and swigged his beer, satisfied with Dave's remark.
Finally the movie started and those two settled down, though Mom heard Dave burp twice.

In other news, we've been enjoying dinners out on the patio recently, where mom has strung up some little lights.

Buddy, of course, joins us for every meal, sitting patiently with his big dog eyes until someone "drops" a bone.

We have all noticed that Buddy seems to be putting on some doggie pounds.  Dad plays frisbee with him the evenings and we think he'll slim down some once he gets back into swimming and other assorted water-sports.

Home Again

I finally it made home. It seems especially hot here now. We had such cool weather in PA though one day was very hot. It's lovely and green there now and all of the plants are in bloom.

It was a lovely visit. We spent time with his parents talking and laughing and of course Lukas was reunited with his best friend. (And no, it did not snow. I simply failed to get a picture of the reunion and thus, am using an old one.)

Also present was their other sweet dog, Chloe, who often sleeps like this.

We went and saw African Cats at the movies (which made me want a pet lion) and afterwards we met his parents at a nice little Italian restaurant.  We were able to sit outside and enjoy the cool spring air whilst we ate.  Mostly, it was a relaxing weekend.  Lots of dog walking and food consumption. Also, I discovered that Lukas has an obsession with a clean windshield and we stopped often to clean it. (This will to have to stop.)

In other news, yesterday was my last day ever at Cupcake. Hooray!! Actually, I found my farewell mildly offensive as it was nonexistent. I was simply dismissed.  No goodbye note, no $500 bonus.  I was promptly removed from the schedule and that is that. Hmph! I give 3 years to that place....

Ari is home now from Tulane. An official college grad, so strange.  I'm tickled silly that she's home finally and I'm very excited for some much overdue Ari/Laura time. She's leaving for Hawaii June 1st though so I've got to squeeze in as much Ari as possible until then.

Also, there is big news on the family front. Ellen is moving home!!!!! YAY!!!!! Oh we're so excited! She gave notice to her job and should be coming end of June or so. She plans to work downtown and has already gotten a job offer in one of those hotels down there. We don't know if she'll take it or keep looking but the point is, she's coming home! She and I are looking for an apartment as she will be my new roommate come August when my lease runs out. (We'll see how that works out.) I'm quite tickled to live with her cats as well.

So that's all for now. I have 2 weeks off before Boone Hall so I intend to read and slump as much as possible. Annie and Baxter must go in today for their check-ups. Mom bought some knock-out pills to make it easier to get them in their boxes. Baxter in now walking around much like Jack Sparrow and he is very loving.  Annie has yet to show up today. She can sense these things.

In the meantime, enjoy this old classic.

Off We Go

Well I'm off to PA today to visit Lukas and therefore, his family as well. There will be no posts for a week. Sorry Aunt Georgie. But in the meantime, enjoy these pictures of his favorite tree and his dog Tanner, who I receive multiple pictures of daily.

Best Friends.

Siti's Birthday

This weekend almost all of Dad's family members came over to celebrate Siti turning 90! They all gathered at our house on Saturday. I fell asleep in my hot stuffy apartment and was late!! I had one of those naps where you wake up hot and queasy and thus I was not hungry when Dad served another of his delicious dinners. It looked very tasty though.

Siti blew out her candles and we all had cake! I somehow managed to make room for dessert.

There was a strange little rain storm and all the cousins went out on the dock with Buddy.  Once it ended there was a rainbow though it was too faint to get a picture.

Lately...

I have taken a job at Boone Hall. I'm not sure what I'll be doing exactly or how much I'll be paid but hey, you only live once and I've really had enough of making cupcakes.

I went over there on Wednesday for an interview and bada-bing bada-boom. I start in June.  I think I'll be helping set up for events and also weeding the gardens. It's my perfect job! I'll keep you posted once I start.

I noticed that the magnolia tree in your yard has started blooming. Such a nice tree.

We all went over to Aunt Melody's house last night since Dene is in town for Siti's 90th birthday. I took too many pictures of her garden.

She has grown an herb garden, a rose garden, and a vegetable garden.  She also had an area of flowers that is a kind of plant hospital from Joe's restaurant. Once they get back in shape she takes them back to the restaurant. She showed us all around.

Dad tossed a stick for her dog Lucky while Mom stopped to smell the roses.

Tonight Dad's whole side is coming over to celebrate with Siti. I'll take a few pictures for you.
