Summer in January

There are people at the beach! There are bikini clad girls laying in Marion Square. It's most delightful. Needless to say I've been meandering in the sunshine.

As for us gals, we're moving out. Ellen decided she doesn't like her job or this apartment and so just like that we are moving. She is moving out to Folly. I haven't decided if I''m going with her or not. I'm weighing my options; Dad meals, dock time, and Buddy or sleeping with 18 pounds of purring fur compressing my lungs and esophagus. Hmmm....

We've got a number of responses on our Craiglist ad for the apartment. Tomorrow were having an "open house" so to speak for the first couple of respondees. Ellen I have been cleaning and hiding flaws. I think I will be absent for the showing. Dad and Ellen can take care of this one.

As for the rest of us, well I really don't know. I've been in my school bubble and I only get the news once a week or so. My lack of news suggests that everyone is fine and just doing their things. I have created a book of photographs which is most exciting. I received it in the mail recently and I'm working on making a link so you can see it online. Give me some time.

Walks n' Things

It's been perfectly lovely out. I'm sorry to hear about y'alls 19 inches of snow out there in Idaho. I'm sure it was exciting, at first. I've been doing my best to ignore my school related commitments and go for as many walks as possible until our "winter" starts.

I really need to clean my room. The thought of it haunts me and yet the idea of actually doing so makes me cower and recoil to the safety of the outdoors. It occurred to Ellen and I that perhaps we are so offended by our off-putting schedules and surrounding peoples because of our unclean, somewhat polluted apartment. Ellen decided that she would in fact stay in Charleston if we had a modern, sassy apartment say, on the waterfront. Yes well...

In other news, things are slow. The winter blues I suppose.

And the Third Day...

Hmm. What do I have for you?
I suppose you know the routine by now. We're all just doing our things.

Mom has been continuing her piano playing, jewelry making, and job searching.  In between these things she does some light trip planning, assorted magazine exploration, and more recently, gimp arm stretches with a giant red rubber band.

Dear old Pops is much like a squirrel. He can't sit still.
Though he has been busy with his housing projects, anytime he has nothing to do he reverts to toddler-esque behavior. Poking and tapping, tripping and shoving, maniacal laughter, and other assorted torture devices unknowingly inflicted upon any nearby victims. He has been out of town for a few days doing some kind of official business, leaving mom to her magazi- I mean, pivotal tasks.

Lukas continues to entertain me into the wee hours of the night via Skype. He is back to work now, though he is thoroughly distracted by the newest Batman video game. When he's not fighting crime in Gotham, he is working on important scientific tasks. Though his explanations are ongoing, I never quite grasp the concept of floating light particles, refracting lasers, or anything with multi-photon spectroscopy in the sentence. Bleh!!

Ellen is considering leaving me! She is debating (nothing is final) moving up to Charlotte in the next few months. She says she wants the opportunities offered by a bigger city, as she is not feeling patient enough to move up the Charleston Place ladder. She never did like slow processes. Clearly she got her lack of patience from her father -the stagnant slapper. If she does move I suppose I'll be moving back in with good old mom and dad. Dad meals every night?? Oh Boy!!

As for me, well, you know.
I have recently been toying with the idea of exercising. Usually I lay down until the feeling passes but perhaps I'll actually do something about it in the near future. Not too near though.
I've started painting in my class now and I'm quite excited about it. My professor seems like a typical absent-minded artsy guy though. Today he told me that a photograph of a wheat field would make some one say, "Oh. Wheat field". Whereas a painting of a wheat field would in fact make someone say, "Oh. WHEAT Field!" Sure thing buddy. I had to withhold my cackle. Never an easy task.

You Know How I Love the Park

Saturday Mom and I ambled on over to the county park for a day of laughing and bike riding. We expected cool weather but unfortunately it was very windy upon our arrival. We don't like wind. So we ditched the bike idea and carried on by foot.

As for the park, they have yet to take down their garish light display. It was mildly amusing to walk through trying to figure out what things would be if they were lit up. We also swung by the dog park where Mom counted 45 dogs just from where she was standing. They were everywhere! Running, sniffing, and scampering off. Some were swimming in the cold water -Egads!- and one wet one ran into Mom's leg. Matchmaker Mom then decided that she was going to force Ellen to frequent the dog park with Buddy as she found a number of "eligible bachelors".

After while Mom began walking like Captain Jack Sparrow and so we deemed it a good time to head back to the car.

Week One

I have almost completed my first insolent and wounding week of my spring semester. In case you wouldn't guess, I'm not particularly happy about this. It's back to day after day of wandering numbly down those long florescent lit hallways, sitting dazed and sleepy while someone drones on and on, outlining the important points of their otherwise unrelatable narrative. I hate this!
I also hate slow internet and the smell of kitty litter so instead of staying in my 5 star apartment, I've been staying at home- my happy place, and Buddy and I had some dock time.

I have since returned to my often foul apartment after calling the comcast guy to ease my internet woes. I've been moping and doing homework. I've also been doing some important paperwork as I was accepted to my Greece program last week. I'm most excited to book that flight. Now I can start of all of my big summer planning!
As for that whole school thing, I've got mythology, sociology, math, painting, and yet again, french. It's all bogus! Preposterous! I'm actually quite excited about my painting class as it will force me to do just that and I do miss it. Otherwise though...Hmph!

Longwood Gardens

Whilst prancing about in PA, we went to an old estate who's grounds have been turned into a vast collection of different plants, trees, and flowers. It was just lovely.
